JEAN-JOSE MARTINEZ, peintre

Jean-José Martinez est né à Chateaurenard (Bouches-du-Rhône) le 3 décembre 1962. Autodidacte, cela fait maintenant plus de 20 ans qu’il peint en toute liberté. L’improvisation, l’imagination guident sa main, toujours en permanente recherche.

Il a d’abord commencé par la peinture à l’huile, travaillant la couleur et la matière. Il y a une dizaine d’années, il a découvert le pastel à l’huile. C’était un peu comme un second souffle. II avait trouvé la technique qui lui correspondait. Le pastel à l’huile permet des créations spontanées souvent riches en couleur, en superpositions, en grattages, contribuant à la recherche d’une émotion. Aujourd’hui, il travaille aussi l’acrylique.

Ses tableaux racontent des histoires qui s’écoutent à travers les formes, les couleurs et les lignes qui les composent, comme des “carrés d’émotion” dans lesquels le regardeur peut voyager.

Jean-José Martinez was born in Chateaurenard (Bouches-du-Rhône) near Avignon on 3 December
1962.
A self-educated person, he has been painting freely for more than 20 years. His hand is perpetually guided by improvisation and imagination, in a constant endeavour to find new creative paths. Oil painting was the first technique he implemented, emphasizing particularly on colour and matter. Then he discovered Oil pastel about 10 years ago, which was for him like taking a second breath; he had finally found the technique which suited him best. Oil pastel allows for spontaneous creation, often rich in colours, superimpositions, scratching, which always contribute to the quest for emotion. Acrylic paint is today another medium used by Martinez.

His paintings tell stories which express through shapes, colours and lines, constituting as many “emotion frames” through which the watcher can travel about endlessly.
